THE RAINBOWBRIDGE

a bridge connecting heaven & earth

By the edge of a woods, at the foot of a hill,
Is a lush, green meadow where time stands still.
Where the friends of man and woman do run,
When their time on earth is over and done.

For here, between this world and the next,
Is a place where each beloved creature finds rest.
On this golden land, they wait and they play,
Till the Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day.

No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness,
For here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness.
Their limbs are restored, their health renewed,
Their bodies have healed, with strength imbued.

They romp through the grass, without even a care,
Until one day they start, and sniff at the air.
All ears prick forward, eyes dart front and back,
Then all of a sudden, one breaks from the pack.

For just at that instant, their eyes have met;
Together again, both person and pet.
So they run to each other, these friends from long past,
The time of their parting is over at last.

The sadness they felt while they were apart,
Has turned into joy once more in each heart.
They embrace with a love that will last forever,
And then, side-by-side, they cross over… together

Achter de Regenboog

Hoeveel ik ook hield van het leven dat we hadden en al de keren dat we speelden,
Ik was zo ontzettend moe en wist dat mijn tijd op aarde aan het vervagen was.
Ik zag toen een buitengewoon beeld van een zorgenvrije plaats
Waar iedereen elkaar weer kan ontmoeten voor eeuwig.

Ik zag de prachtigste Regenboog en aan de andere kant daarvan
Waren mooie, rijke weiden--mals en groen en uitgestrekt!
En rennend door de weiden zo ver als je oog kan zien
Waren dieren van elk soort, zo gezond als een dier maar kan zijn!
Mijn eigen oude, mij in de steek latende lichaam was jong en genezen en nieuw
En ik wilde samen met hen gaan rennen, maar ik had nog iets te doen.

Ik wilde je een bemoediging geven en je vertellen dat het goed met mij is
Dat deze plek werkelijk fantastisch is, toen een schitterende Gloed
zich een weg baande door de nacht.
Het was de Gloed van vele helder en sterk en krachtig brandende Kaarsen
En toen wist ik dat het jouw liefde bevatte in de schitterende gouden schaduwen.

Want al zijn we dan niet samen zoals we dat gewend waren
We zijn nog steeds verbonden door een koord dat niemand kan zien.
Dus steeds als je het nodig hebt me te vinden, we zijn nooit ver van elkaar verwijderd
Als je zoekt achter de Regenboog en luistert met je hart.
